General Notes on Adapters for BERGER Multi
Spindle Drill Heads
The mount and drive of a BERGER multi spindle drill
head depend on if it can be attached to a stationary,
non-rotating part of the machine concerned (standard
adapter) or if it is necessary to attach the multi spindle
drill head to a rotating part of the machine (CNC adapter).
Standard Adapter
The below illustration shows a BERGER multispindle drill
head with an adapter for mounting on a non-rotating
machine part (e.g. quill, spindle housing, angle iron,
etc.). A flange transmits the axial forces from the
multi spindle drill head to the machine. The flange
is either screwed or clipped to the machine. The driven
part supports only the torque required for working.

CNC Adapter
The illustration shows a typical adapter for a BERGER
multi spindle drill head on a CNC machine. All forces
- the axial forces as well as the required torque -
are supported by a machine-driven part (usually ISO,
CAT, BT or HSK Taper) and an anti-rotation pin.
