Description

The unique feature of the MSBV line of multispindle drill heads is their possibility to adjust the center to center step less to fit your pattern. With the same drill head a whole variety of patterns can be machined, making them affordable even for smaller series of parts. Berger MSBV multispindle drill heads can be used for drilling and tapping, two set-screws from the side hold the square end of the top.

Berger MSBV sets the new quality standard for adjustable multispindle drill heads. The rigid bearing-system is based on roller-bearings only, with each spindle honed in to provide a support with no play at all. MSBV drill heads are made of specially selected high quality materials. The spindles and shafts are hardened and ground/polished. The gears are made of quenched steel and nitrate-hardened.

Options

2- or 3-Spindle heads available
Applications
Thanks to the special spindle nose with 2 set screws (to secure the squared end of tap-shafts), Berger MSBV multispindle drill heads are suited to both drilling and thread cutting.
MSBV multispindle drill heads are also suitable for the production of small lots since innumerable drill patterns can be obtained with a single drill head.

FIXED CENTER
Description

All heads are engineered based on a standardized design system of spindles, bearings, and gears. This system allows fast delivery of these specially built heads, and quick parts delivery from stock. For the 4,000+ drill heads sold in the last 25 years, parts are delivered in 48 hours worldwide.

Berger multiple spindle heads are precision made. The housing is made out of a special aluminum used in the aircraft industry, but housings of cast iron or steel are also available. All rotating parts are case hardened (up to 62Rc) and ground. To optimize efficiency they are held in ball bearings. Made from quenched and tempered steel, all gears can be case hardened and ground for special applications. All spindles are double case hardened and precision ground.

On conventional machines the drill heads are attached to the quill with an adapter piece. The drive is achieved through a tang engaging in the morse taper or equipped.

For complex elaborate machining projects we offer a special construction with fixed center spindles, type MSBZ. These heads are dedicated to the appropriate hole pattern. Spindles with different RPMs are achieved through this design. It allows the highest possible degree of adaptation to different cutting speeds and tool sizes. The possibility of tapping different pitches without length compensating holders is also a standard feature.

On CNC machine tools with automatic tool changer the drill heads are equipped with the appropriate V-flange taper. The adjustable positioning and locating plate ensures proper engagement of drive and position pin. This allows the automatic exchange of multiple spindle heads on most existing tool handling systems.

For complex elaborate machining projects we offer a special construction with fixed center spindles, type MSBZ. These heads are dedicated to the appropriate hole pattern.
