BERGER MSBV drill heads were designed for long-term use from the very start of their development. Special attention was given to the system of spindle bearings. The arrangement of bearings used for the MSBZ line was modified to fit the technological needs of the MSBV drill heads without compromising the excellent stability and rugged construction. The resulting system of bearings is of unique quality for adjustable drill heads.

Top Needle Bearing :: This bearing serves to support the drive forces. The needles roll directly on the hardened and ground spindle.
Top Thrust Bearing :: This bearing is held against the bottom thrust bearing with spring washers and gives the spindles axial stability.
Bottom Needle Bearing :: The core of our spindle bearing. The outer ring is pressed into the spindle housing. Each bearing is honed to size the spindle and the needle cage.
Bottom Thrust Bearing :: An axial ball-bearing of large dimensions absorbs the drilling pressure.

The input shaft and idler gears are also mounted on roller-bearings only. These bearings reduce vibration to a great extent thereby enhancing the effectiveness of the entire drill head and cutting the production of warmth at high RPM. Our spindles are made from high quality drawn steel. They are hardened and ground. An adjustment screw is built into every MSBV spindle for easy adjustment of tool length. All MSBV spindles also have set screws to secure the squared end of the tap-shafts in order to transfer the required torque to the tool. The oilbath lubrication makes the drill head virtually maintenance free.
